Why did I become a Chiropractor?
As I was studying at the University of Manitoba to obtain my Bachelor of Science degree, I was always interested in becoming a health care provider. I did suffer from some serious health issues in the past which peaked my curiosity towards the human body and health. I had a case of severe Mononucleosis and was sick for a few years. I referred to it as” Mono from hell”. I had a very weak immune system for years after having it and caught frequent colds and flues on an ongoing basis. Since I have been introduced to Chiropractic care, my spinal adjustments have greatly improved my immune function. I rarely get sick and truly believe my immune system gets stronger every year.
Improving your health through Chiropractic can decrease time loss from work
I also learned more about Chiropractic when my grandfather was helped with severe shoulder pain. He went to several medical doctors and also had several medical tests regarding his shoulder problem. The medical doctors could not diagnose his problem or help him. Feeling frustrated, he decided to try a Chiropractor. The Chiropractic care completely corrected his problem and he experienced no shoulder pain afterwards.
After being inspired with this story along with my personal experience with Chiropractic, I started to learn more and more about the profession and it simply matched my philosophy regarding health. I really believe you become well naturally and not from medicine or surgery. Chiropractic is 100% natural and one of the safest types of health care existing today. It is a wellness based model and that was a perfect fit for me. I applied to a Chiropractic College shortly after.
After practicing for 14 years, my passion and belief in Chiropractic has grown much stronger! I just think the care is a necessity in life to help achieve optimal wellness.
A recent epiphany I had a year ago was realizing that as patients were helped regarding back pain or headaches, they were getting sick less often, feeling more energy, sleeping better etc but did not always realize the care created those changes. I think it is because they may not of thought it was possible from Chiropractic care. I may of failed them by not educating them enough which is why I continue to strive for optimal patient education.
Chiropractic Education
I graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 1997 in Bloomington, Minnesota. I feel I received a very well-rounded education as my professors were a mixture of Chiropractors, Medical doctors, Pharmacists Etc. It was a very intense four year program! Often, the public is not aware about how much education Chiropractors receive.
I have gained a lot of clinical experience over the years as I have worked in multiple clinical settings. Downtown Edmonton is a strong business environment and I understand the needs of that type of clientele. I was also the Chiropractor for the Winnipeg Goldeyes Professional Baseball team for 2 years . I have worked on numerous elite athletes over the years as well. I also currently own a Chiropractic practice in Spruce Grove, called Chiropractic Connection Centre (www.sprucegrovechiropractor.com), which is mainly a family practice. It is not uncommon for me to adjust and help children and infants at that location.
My Hobbies
Although I love Chiropractic, it is important to create balance in my life as well. I love music and playing the drums on a regular basis. I like a creative type of hobby and drums are a great way for me to clear my mind. Otherwise, I really enjoy running, martial arts, weight training and reading.
